Restaurant photography today isn't just about making a dish look beautiful — it has to sell a deal in a two-inch thumbnail on a delivery app, scrolling past in an Instagram feed at full speed.
That was the brief for our shoot with Saltish, a restaurant in Islamabad with a menu spanning burgers, karahi, biryani and pulao, and soups. Rather than single, minimal plate shots, Saltish needed photography built around what customers actually order: combo deals.
The Brief
Saltish needed a full set of menu photography that worked across every channel customers actually browse on:
That meant shooting full combos — burger with fries and a drink, not just the burger — so the photo matched exactly what a customer would receive.
The Styling Approach: Marble & Color
We shot on a bright marble surface to keep the food itself as the warmest, richest thing in frame, and built a consistent prop language across every dish: miniature serving carts holding colorful dip bowls, printed napkins, and a light scatter of chili flakes, spice dust and onion rings for texture and energy — without ever burying the food underneath styling.

Combo & Deal Photography
Deals are what move orders, so we treated them as the hero product — not an afterthought. Twin burger combos were shot symmetrically with both drinks and both fry baskets in frame, so the value of the deal reads instantly, even at thumbnail size.

Karahi, Biryani & the Full Table Spread
For Saltish's heavier dishes, we shot a full table spread — chicken karahi in a traditional kadai, garlic naan, vegetable pulao and biryani, soup, and the same colorful dip cart tying it back to the burger shots. This kind of wide, abundant shot works especially well for family deals and bigger combo promotions.

Soups & Comfort Food
For soup, we switched to a clean top-down flat lay — the format that reads best for warm, comforting dishes — with prawn crackers, chili oil and scallions arranged around the bowl to keep the frame balanced without competing with the soup itself.
