Pantry staples are some of the hardest products to photograph well. A jar of desi ghee or a bottle of pickle doesn't have the built-in glamour of skincare or fashion — the photography has to create it.
Afaan Foods, an Islamabad-based food brand on I-9 Road, came to us with a full lineup that needed to look as premium on a phone screen as it does on the pantry shelf: desi ghee, honey, panjeeri, adrak paste, and a wide range of chatnis and pickles — Afghani chatni, imli chatni, alubukhara chatni, mango mix pickle, vegetable mix pickle and lemon pickle.
Here's how we approached the shoot, and what it took to make traditional, everyday products look shelf-ready for Daraz, Instagram and print.
The Brief
Afaan Foods needed images that could work across several channels at once:
That meant every product needed a styled hero shot with real texture and warmth, consistent enough across the whole range to work for listings, packaging and social media alike — all from the same session.
Styling: Making Pantry Staples Feel Premium
For a brand built on traditional, home-style recipes, we didn't want a sterile studio look. Instead, we styled each product against natural stone and wood surfaces, letting the food's own texture and color do the work — the amber glow of ghee, the deep red of a chatni, the flecked gold of panjeeri.
Desi ghee jar and traditional clay pot, styled together to show texture and pour consistency.
Close-up detail shots mattered just as much as the wide hero shots. For ghee especially, we shot tight on the texture and the clay pot pour to communicate quality before a customer ever reads the label.
Chatnis & Pickles: Color as the Hero
The chatni and pickle range is where color did most of the selling. Afghani chatni, imli chatni, alubukhara chatni, mango mix pickle, vegetable mix pickle and lemon pickle each have a distinct color and texture, so we kept backgrounds simple and let the product itself carry the shot.

Panjeeri: A Different Kind of Texture Shot
Panjeeri is a dry, granular product with none of the reflective shine of ghee or the deep color of a chatni — a completely different lighting challenge. We shot it top-down to show the texture and mix of ingredients clearly, the way a customer would actually see it once opened.

What Afaan Foods Received
By the end of the session, the brand had a complete, consistent image library covering its entire product line:
- Styled hero shots on stone and wood surfaces for every SKU
- Macro detail and texture shots for ghee, honey and panjeeri
- Square, portrait and landscape crops from a single shoot day
- Consistent color, lighting and styling across the entire chatni & pickle range
- Images ready for the website, Daraz, Instagram and printed packaging
One shoot day, one product line, a full set of images ready to go straight onto the website, Daraz, Instagram and printed packaging — no separate sessions needed.
Why This Matters for Food & FMCG Brands in Pakistan
Traditional, home-style food brands are competing against imported packaged goods with big marketing budgets. Photography is one of the fastest ways to close that gap — a well-lit, well-styled jar of ghee or pickle can look every bit as premium as an international brand, without changing the product at all.

Book Your Product ShootFrequently Asked Questions
How long does a food product photography shoot take?
A single-brand shoot covering multiple SKUs — like desi ghee, chatnis and pickles — typically takes one full studio session to capture front, detail, texture and lifestyle angles for every variant.
Do you provide styling and props for food product shoots?
Yes. For the Afaan Foods shoot we used natural stone and wood surfaces to give pantry staples like ghee and pickles a warm, premium look that still feels authentic to the product.
What formats do you deliver for e-commerce and social media?
We deliver square images for marketplaces like Daraz, portrait crops for Instagram and Facebook, and wide banners for websites — all from the same shoot, so brands don't need to book separate sessions.
Can you photograph multiple product lines in one session?
Yes. For Afaan Foods we covered desi ghee, honey, panjeeri, adrak paste, and a full range of chatnis and pickles in a single shoot day, keeping lighting and styling consistent across every SKU.
